1. Call To Order:

  • The meeting was called to order at 10:07.

2. Approval Of The Agenda:

  • The motion to approve the agenda was seconded and carried.

3. Adoption Of The Minutes Of The Meeting Held On June 18, 2008.

  • The motion to adopt the minutes was seconded and carried.

4. Business Arising From The Minutes.

  • Confirmation from Canadian Blood Services for $100 donation made in memory of Tony Allingham.

5. New Business.

A. Correspondence.

  • Ken Mitchell resigned from the Board as he was unable to attend meetings due to family matters. Letter sent by Derek Knox, thanking him for his contribution as a member of the Board,
  • Margot Allingham will be asked to serve on the Board for the duration of our current term,
  • Letter from the BCIT Board of Governors informing us that Maureen Enser is the new Chairperson,
  • Note received from Margot Allingham expressing her deep appreciation of the Retirees' Association at the time of her bereavement.

B. Reports

  • 1. Treasurer
  • Financial report was provided. The treasurer will ask Alan Barnard to look after our accounts while he is away.
  • 2. Benefits and Liaison, COSCO
  • Clarence is attending a COSCO meeting on our behalf and will present a report at the next meeting.
  • 3. Fellowship and Travel
  • A good weather day trip to Bowen Island is being planned and other similar day trips are being considered.
  • Christmas Luncheon: Sunday, December 7 at Cheers in North Vancouver - $19.00 per person - mark your calendar!
  • 4. Membership, Recruitment, Recognition and Support
  • Current membership is at 199. Twenty-nine people have not paid after several notices and have therefore been struck from the roster.
  • 5. Web Page
  • The webpage is currently uptodate. Ted Marchant is asking for pictures from Retirees' events for posting on the web and for use in future news letters.
  • 6. Travel
  • Ten members and friends are ticketed for the cruise from October 13 - 22nd, travelling from Vancouver to San Diego.

The motion to accept the reports was seconded and carried.

6. OTHER BUSINESS

  • Newsletter
  • Ed Warkentin is asking for volunteers to help produce this years publication. Also, articles for inclusion would be greatly appreciated.
  • Annual General Meeting
  • Date confirmed, Wednesday, March 11, 2009, Town Square, Salon D, BCIT Campus.

7. Next Meeting:

  • It is to be held on Oct. 8, 2008, 10:00, at the Royal Oak Facility, Rm SE 4-40.
