1. Call To Order:

  • The meeting was called to order at 10:25.

2. Approval Of The Agenda:

  • The motion to approve the agenda was seconded and carried.

3. Adoption Of The Minutes Of The Meeting Held On January 20, 2010:

  • The motion to adopt the minutes was seconded and carried.

4. Business Arising From The Minutes.

  • Margot asked Ted Marchant if it would be possible to find out the number of hits on the web page, which topics had the most visitors, etc. The response was positive.

5. New Business.

A. Correspondence.

  • There was no correspondence.

B. Reports

  • 1. Treasurer
  • Bob being absent, Alan gave the Treasurer's Report. Our total current assets as of Feb. 10 are $ 7157. 85. (Report is available on the website.)
  • 2. Benefits and Liaison, COSCO
  • The report was not available.
  • 3. Fellowship and Travel
  • Christine came up with a very good offer of a 10-night cruise out of Miami into the West Indies, etc. on March 9, 2011, with the flight included for the amazing price of US$ 1499. We should have no problem selling the cruise to the membership.
  • 4. Membership, Recruitment, Recognition and Support
  • We have 200 members, 129 memberships paid according to Christine. It is expected that many members will sign up at the AGM.
  • 5. Communications (Web Page)
  • Ted mentioned his written report made for the previous Minutes. He is also trying to attract more readers by adding jokes and trivia questions to the web site.

The motion to accept the reports was seconded and carried.

6. Other Business

  • Preparation for the AGM:-
    • Catering is to be arranged,
    • Derek and Karl areto do the 50/50,
    • Discussed was whether a panel discussion should be held or not and that Ted Scratchley had offered to lead a session on the future of the BCITRA.
    • Ted HOward has a list of candidates and pointed out five directors were ready to resign and create openings for new candidates. Ted, having run the elections too many times will ask Ernie Iannacone to do it this time.
  • Plan for Spring Luncheon to be held in April. Bedford House was mentioned and Christine quoted a price of $28.00. Eagle Creek, the restaurant at the Burnaby Golf Club is to be considered. (The Luncheon should be called the Pat and Ed Warkentin Luncheon.)

  • Will be held on March 17, 2010, 10:00, at the Royal Oak Facility, Rm SE 4-40.
