6. Reports.
a. Correspondence.
- A letter was received from the Children’s Hospital requesting donations. No action was taken at this time.
b. Treasurer
- Got a small refund of fees from our Scotiabank chequing account. We will examine going to Vancity Credit Union if they have a chequing account with no fees.
- We received dues from seven members.
- Chequing account balance is $1476.90; ING savings account is $5920.87 for a total of $7402.77 as of June 15, 2011. The Treasurer's report.
c. Membership, Recruitment, Recognition and Support
- Alan has 162 paid members on his list. The date line for renewal is June 1. Allan has sent reminders to those who have not paid, and after several reminders, will be removed from his membership register.
d. Liaison with COSCO
- Clarence attended the recent Cosco meeting, but was unable to attend our meeting and give his report.
e. Fellowship and Travel
- Chris described the 6 day Kootenay Country bus trip that she, Alan and another couple enjoyed. They even got picked up and delivered back to their front door. Luggage handling and meals were included. A husband and wife team drove the bus and acted as hosts/guides. They were very impressed with how this large bus was able to be navigated in normal residential streets. They stop so passengers can take pictures of animals from inside the bus.
- Future trips under consideration are one to the Okanagan in September (this is on our website) and another one a train-ride into the Squamish-Whistler area. Some trips avoid HST by going outside of BC for 48 hours; for example to Alberta or Washington State.
- We are still investigating a day trip on BC Ferries, to have lunch on the ferry and return the same day.
The motion to accept the reports was seconded and carried.
8. Other Business:
- Summer Break
- As usual, there will be no July or August meeting.
- Medoc
- They now have 17 day trip insurance in addition to their regular 35 day trip insurance. A rate sheet based on age was passed around, and the rate is for one year. This will be posted on our website. This is very useful for people who do several trips per year. It includes medical plus trip cancellation insurance.
9. Next Meeting:
- The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at 10:00 at the Royal Oak Facility, Rm SE 4-40.
8. Adjournment.
- Meeting adjourned at 11:42.
